Naturopathy

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a system of medicine founded on the most time tested principle “vis medicatrix naturae” – The Healing Power of Nature.  Naturopathy is a holistic system, meaning that a Naturopath aims to find the cause of disease.  Disease is seen as indicator of improper functioning of the body or the body not at homeostasis (normal functioning state of health). The goal of a Naturopath is to restore the body back to homeostasis (balance).

As a Naturopath the key questions I always consider are:

Why? Why is the body doing this -as the body never does anything without a reason. (The reason is not always obvious).

What?  What is the underlying cause of the symptoms?  This once again may not always be obvious. This is the point where additional testing may be of benefit. Such as Microbiome test, Stool testing, Saliva testing, Hair Mineral analysis and Food sensitivity testing to name a few.

How?  How do I reduce / resolve the symptoms? Provide relief and bring the body back to Balance.

This is through Nutrition, Supplements, Herbal Medicine and lifestyle changes, with the guidance and support of your Naturopath.

The goal of a Naturopath is to restore the body back to homeostasis.

There are 5 key areas of focus in naturopathy:

  1. Address the underlying cause of the illness and disease which will reduce/resolve the symptoms

  2. Supporting the body's own healing abilities,

  3. Nutrition

  4. Lifestyle review to empower you  to make lifestyle changes necessary for health

  5. Education on long-term wellness

A Naturopath treat’s the whole person.  This means all aspects of your life are considered including diet / nutrition, family history, environment, lifestyle, stress levels, mental and emotional well-being and symptoms.

Starting your Naturopathy Journey

  • For your initial consultation, allow up to 1 ½ hours.

A very thorough history will be taken including questions regarding:

    • Your diet (It helps to bring a food diary with you outlining everything that you have eaten and had to drink over a period of at least three days.)

    • Lifestyle

    • Stress

    • Environmental exposures

    • Family History

    • Symptoms

  • Your testing appointment

    • Iridology - Katrina offers iris analysis routinely as part of the suite of diagnostic services. She adds the benefit of a digital iris scope camera. Your clinical images are saved and are a ready reference point to monitor and document progress.

    • Live & coagulated blood analysis (in clinic) - A small sample of blood is taken (similar to a diabetes check) the blood sample is then placed under a microscope for analysis. Blood analysis is a useful clinic tool for giving a very good “snapshot” into the overall health of your body.

    • Biometric assessments

    • Other tests such as food sensitivity testing, hair mineral analysis (a lab test) and additional laboratory tests as required. This will be discussed if required.

    Report of Findings

Katrina will then take all the information provided and create a report of the findings and a personalised treatment, nutritional and supplement plan. This is a tailored report specifically for you.

The report of findings will be presented to you at the treatment commencement appointment.

Katrina’s goal is to assist you to reach YOUR Health Potential.
